From last week emotional elimination night, Joan Da, the last hope of Pilita Corrales’ over 25’s finally gets the boot, leaving the final 6 (halfway) of the X Factor Philippines. This week’s theme is tribute to two of the most influential bands whose songs have been part our lives for two decades, Rivermaya and Eraserheads.
The Final six is competing for qualifying into the “Elite Final Five Finalist” as the said singing competition is closer to the grand finale. Martin Nievera still has 3 mentees (no bottom 2 ever since), Charice got 2 female contestants in her hands and Gary Valenciano has a sole bet.
Gary V’s group Daddy’s Home kicks off the show singing “Himala”. The only thing that makes me believe why is they are still in the competition is CONSISTENSY. They manage again in giving a worthy-to-watch performance with synchronized and beautiful blending. The falsetto parts have no flaws.
Martin: “This is the reason why you guys deserve this slot”
Pilita: “You can sing anything”
Charice: “Proud to witness this talent”
Gary V: “Naging tunay ang himala”
19 year-old Gabriel Maturan follows with “Hinahanap-hanap Kita”. Gab delivers a more entertaining side of him, “the swag”. It’s not extra-ordinary but I would give him an A for his smooth dance.
Pilita: “Quiet achiever, the dark-horse of the competition.”
Gary: “Singing and dancing is not easy”
Charice: “Ang performance na hinihintay ko”
Matin: “Pitchy in the beginning but getting better afterwards.”
Future singing heartthrob Jeric Medina takes the stage with “214”. It was plainly pop but it didn’t pop my heart out. Simply beautiful but not a stand-out!
Pilita: “Best choice of song”
Gary: “You must be inspired that you pour your heart out”
Charice: “Tonight is not yourbest compared to last week’s”
Martin: “Notes are not perfect. The most relaxed Jeric”
Social Networking sites’ early favorite KZ Tandingan breaks her own KZ-Style performance with “Kisap-Mata”. We proclaimed! She is the one to beat, the biggest threat! She was emotionally attached to the song and her voice has the soul and heart.
Martin: “There is nothing wrong. Unbelievable artist”
Pilita: “You’re sensational”
Gary: “This song shows your heart and soul”
Charice: “Wala akong masabi, very proud of you”
Kedebon Colim takes his chance again with a sort-off lullaby song Penpen de Sarapin with “Toyang”, considered as his first good performance in the said competition. As usual, he exhibits a lot of movements and dances in every way he can. This one is not pitchy but it’s not perfect. He’s still a good-for-nothing recording artist for us.
Pilita: “Nandito ka pa? This song is bagay sayo”
Gary: “Puro galaw-galaw lang, looking forward to the other side of you.
Charice: “To the haters, who cares? . . . . It’s Kedebon!
Martin: You’re natural on stage”
Closing the program is 17 year-old Allen Sta. Maria who surprises us with her beautiful soft voice in singing Smile. It was smooth, simple but unforgettable. Her rendition is most likely more of a radio current song which is very salable and marketable to music lovers.
Martin: “Textbook Allen, swagger princess”
Pilita: “Getting better every week, another dark-horse”
Gary: “This shows na mahal na mahal mo talaga ang ginagawa mo”
Charice: “You’re the right person to send a smile with this song”
